Happy New Year!

12.30.08

Whoa.

Has it been THAT long since I updated here?

I apologize for our absence but the doctor visits for Geri's foot and then the Christmas holiday were here before we knew what happened.

We just dropped Kristen off at the airport (which is looking fantastic, by the way) so she could start her journey back

to LaLa Land. GR to Denver to Salt Lake to L.A. makes for a long travel day. But we surely enjoyed having her home and

we were able to "web cam" with Casey since she was unable to come home from the new job in Austin. So we gathered around

the big Plasma TV in the family room and watched Casey open her gifts from Santa as we didi the same here. iChat on our Macs

worked perfectly for this event and I used a Sony DV camera hooked up to my Powerbook to feed our video to her. It all went very well

and we had a nice visit for a couple of hours that way. It was a very nice Christmas and we hope you can say the same.

I met up with our buddy John Zimmerman at Hopcat downtown this past Sunday to watch the Lions complete their perfect season.

0 - 16 is very sad, indeed. But we always hope for next year, don't we? I wonder who the new coach will be now that they have released

Rod Marinelli from that position? Man oh man.. who do you think would WANT that job? Anyway, it was nice to see John and toast

the pathetic Lions to the best losing season for any team in NFL history. (Clink!)

We miss you all terribly and hope you have the happiest and (around here, anyway) healthiest New Year yet.

(That means NO MORE INJURIES, GERI!!)

We plan on launching a new blog site after the first of the year so watch your e-mail for the announcement. This one will allow

you to comment on anything we write here as we attempt to make it more like a real blog. Until that time and as always,

please feel free to email us your thoughts and comments anytime!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

12.6.08

So... on 12.4.08 Geri and I were in the front of the house decorating the front window Christmas Tree

when all of all sudden I heard such a clatter, I sprang from the other side of the tree to see what was the matter.

It was as if we were in slow motion. I started yelling "Nooooo Noooooo!!" And Geri was saying "Ohhhh Ohhhhh!"

The leg scooter was falling backwards and as she fell towards the tree, she planted with the full force of her

body weight and momentum her healing foot (without the medical boot on, I might add) on the floor. There was a POP and I was too late to help.

Note the picture above. See where the tendon joins the heal bone? Well, it's not that way on Geri's left foot anymore.

Without getting too graphic, (and I have a picture of the injury, but I won't show it too you here) there was an... uhh...

"opening" of the skin horizontally. That's all I'll say besides ew.

So, Geri had surgery AGAIN to repair this damage Thursday evening and she's now home, once again. Fortunately the good

Dr. Golladay was doing surgery at Blodgett that very day and so he added her to the schedule and got it done. Yaay!

Yesterday, the 5th of December was my birthday and I'm happy to say, uneventful.

Here's our email link. Write us when you get a chance!

11.28.08

Mmmmm....Turkey!!

We hope you had a GREAT Thanksgiving too!

=================

11.24.08

Geri and I made the annual pilgrimage to Otto's Turkey Farm in Middleville this morning after the doc's removed the "soft cast" she

had on her left leg. (She's back in the "boot" now.) It was just starting to snow as we drove out M-6 toward Broadmoor and by the

time we made it to Middleville the snow was coming down at a pretty good clip. We picked up three turkeys (one 28 pounder for the

PT guy that has been helping Geri... he's having the whole family over) and two smaller ones for us. These bad boys are flat TASTY.

No steroids or any additives. Just straight from the farm to you! We whole heartedly recommend a visit. And they make some mean

Turkey Jerky as well as string cheese! Mmmmm!!!

The snow fall was really pretty on the drive home and I stood looking out the front window for quite a while just watching it fall

and cover the neighborhood. It makes it feel very "holiday-ish," don't you think?

I am SO gald I went out during the third quater of the Lions game Sunday and put up the Christmas lights. None of my hanging

involves ladders (thankfully) and so I had it done just in time to see the horrible fourth quarter begin. I can't imagine

what the Thanksgiving Day game will be like. At least the Cowboys play later in the day too.

How come you haven't joined us on TWITTER yet? C'Mon! You already have a the computer and it's a great way to

stay in touch throughout the day. We'd really appreciate it and you might just have some fun too. If you have a Blackberry or

iPhone there are free TWITTER apps that will run on them too.

Or... feel free to email us too!

==================

11.17.08

Anyone have any idea what kind of bug this is?

Casey sent me this picture titled "Weird Texas Bugs" and for the life of me, I have never seen one like it.

Having grown up in Texas and experienced all manner of creepie crawlies, I must say I'm stumped.

At first I thought it was (what we called as kids) a "Horny Toad" or Horned Frog.

They look like this.

As you can see, completely different.

That bug kinda creeps me out.

I wonder what it is?

Do you know? Please email us and tell us, so I can tell Casey.

Thanks!

(UPDATED 11.21.08)

Here are some memories you shared with us. We thank you!

From Kim Keen:

I was reading your blog (as I frequently do) and wanted to let you
know that I have a fond memory of a Dave and Geri listener
appreciation party at Studio 28. I was only at one of your parties
out there, but it was a lot of fun. I remember fruitcake bowling
across the lobby! I won my first Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CD
which I still have and listen to every year. I also remember many
dates with my husband out at Studio 28 - it was THE theater to attend
and will be missed. Speaking of being missed - we all miss you guys
very much!
Kim Keen

From Bryon Harris:

I had to be honest and say my wife and I have not been to Studio 28 in a long time but we certainly had our fun times at theater #1 with many Dave & Geri movies previews. Also, I donŐt know if you remember but many years ago my wife crossed stitched two sweatshirts for you and Geri with the WLHT logo on the shirts. It was given to you before the movie started. She loved doing those shirts for you. I am sad to hear of the closing especially since in that area there really are no theaters close by. But it is a huge theatre and I cannot imagine the cost of keeping it up must be enormous.

11.14.08

John Loeks and the Loeks family have decided to close Studio 28 Twenty Screen Theaters.

Geri and I have many fond memories of countless movie sneaks and promotions we held through the years there.

For those of you that have been with us for a long time, the "Dave and Geri Listener Appreciation Party" at the holiday's began there.

We used to do our last day on the air for the year from there with tons of food, prizes and good times including the ocasional

live artist such as Jim Brickman. Our closets are still full of t-shirts from all the movie sneaks and a few articles

of "staff only" wear that our good friend Ron VanTimmeren gave us.

Forty-Three years is a long time and even though we have only been here for about half of that time, we witnessed the

several expansions through the years and our own daughter Casey got her first paying job there.

The last movie will be shown at 7pm, Sunday November 23rd.

I know the header for this entry may look silly. "Requiem." But it truly is an emotional passing.

We know that time marches on and and the Loeks family and Celebration Cinema's will move forward.

But we had to say something about that grand place on 28th Street with so many good memories floating through those

long hallways along with the echoes of all those soundtracks.

I still say the BEST place to see a movie was Theater 1. Bar none.

Any memories to share with us?

Please feel free to send us an email.

11.10.08

Sorry about the lack of updates.

Geri's surgery went fine, however both of her legs were out of commission for a few days so I was busy

tending to her needs and making sure she was on top of the pain meds. They seem to be working well!

Check out Geri's sweet new ride!

It's a "leg scooter" that you put your knee on, extend the leg back and scoot around the house... or wherever.

I'm thinking of pimping it out. Maybe some spinning rims, etc. Any thoughts?

Geri will probably be in a cast or restrictive boot of some sort through the holidays.

###

We got home from Geri's surgery and spent the evening watching the election returns. Facinating stuff!

We did a lot of flipping around watching the various networks and their coverage.

We thought John McCain's concession speech was moving and gracious and the scene from

Grant Park in Chicago amazing. To see that many people, including families with their little ones in tow

and at that hour was truly stunning.

Sue Bellinger wrote and shared a traveling story of her own after reading my ordeal on the road trip to Austin with Casey:

Hi Dave and Geri,

A long time ago in another life, my first husband and I were moving from Illinois to California. We had driven all night and stopped in Hays KS for breakfast. We left the restaurant and I put my purse on top of the car so I could strap our year old daughter into her car seat. We proceeded to go to ColbyKS to find a place to sleep. ThatŐs about two hours down the road. Much to my surprise, my purse was not in the car. Nor was it still on top of the car. We were very fortunate that an honest employee of the restaurant found it. We asked them to send it COD to my AuntŐs house in El Cajon CA. The purse had travelerŐs checks and $50 in cash. At a stop in Estes Park, CO we were able to get the travelers checks replaced. When we arrived in California, the purse was not yet there. We were not surprised, but it did arrive several days later with all of the cash and the travelerŐs checks still in it. Very lucky, I would say.

I love your blog and still miss hearing you two on the air.

Good luck with your surgery Geri.

Sue Bellinger

Thanks for sharing, Sue! We love hearing from all of you.

Email us at ANY time!

10.31.08

First of all...

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We hope you have a fun and SAFE Halloween.

Now...

The road trip from Boise to Austin wasn't without a few adventures. Or should I say MIS-adventures.

The flight from GRR-->DEN-->BOI was relatively uneventful.

This is Casey's one-eyed-virually-toothless-recently-neutered Chihuahua "Taco" that was a rescue pet. Without going into too

much detail, the little guy supposedly was kicked by a horse and lost his right eye. His previous owner was elderly and died and

SOMEHOW Casey ended up with him. There had been provisions made for the dog not to be put down (he's not sick or anything)

and to have any medical care paid. So, he had twenty something teeth removed and was neutered at the same time. Good thing dogs

can't talk, if you ask me. But he's fine now and actually was very little trouble on the two and a half day journey.

This is where he'd ride sometimes. I kept telling Casey to be sure not to slam on the brakes while he was back there.

After leaving Boise on Friday morning around 11:30, the first stop was Denver. A long eleven plus hour drive, but we made it just fine

without any incidents to speak of. Only two or three comfort and fill up stops plus take along meals and the ever popular

"salty snacks" to munch on in the car. The trip through Utah, Wyoming and down into Denver was beautiful, as you might imagine.

This is the following morning in Denver, just before we left. As you can see, one of the two creatures above had some business to take care of.

So, it was on toward our next stop... Okaloma City via Colorado and Kansas.

This is a fully loaded cattle truck we had to stay behaind for WAAAAY to long in Kansas. Fragrent to say the least!

BTW: Casey did get a speeding ticket just after we entered Kansas, but in fairness, I probably would have too if I had been driving.

If you look in the mirror you can see the troopers car parked behind us.

We arrived in OKC in the early evening, with me driving, and this is where things get a bit fuzzy for me.

Since we had to find pet friendly hotels we had found The Sheraton in downtown OKC would accomodate.

The valet asked if we had any bags that needed to be carted to the room and we said no, since I had taken only

a carry on for the trip in the air and on the ground.

I got out of the car...

went around to the passenger side rear door...

opened it...

and...

MY BAG WAS GONE.

I froze. I stared. I remembered taking it out to the car and setting it right by the back door.

And this is where things get fuzzy.

Casey tells me I ranted and raved and swore and stomped and foamed at the mouth and was down right

DEMONIC in my behavior. I do slightly remember seeing the valet take a few steps backwards during this time.

Turns out I had left the bag in the parking lot as we drove forward out of the parking space. If we had driven backwards, we probably

would have hit it and there would be no story. Having an airline lose your bag is one thing. I've had that happen before as I

know many of you have. But to leave the bag behind because it was MY fault was too much for me to bear, so I took it

out on myself. I was so angry with myself, I couldn't think straight. (Thus the fuzzy condition of my recollections, I guess.)

By four or four-thirty a.m. I had calmed down enough to make a plan to just have the hotel send my bag to the airport

in Denver since I was returning that way on Tuesday. I figured I could pick it up at the airlines baggage claim and just haul it

home from there. "I'm sorry. The airport is over 25 miles away and our insurance and hotel rules will not allow it."

Thank you, Holiday Inn Express. You just lost a former loyal customer.

They Fed-Ex'd it back to Grand Rapids and it was here when I got home Tuesday.

I bought what I needed for the next few days at a Target in Norman, OK... the home of the OU Sooners.

On to the final leg and into Austin, Texas!

This is the hat Casey wore the whole trip. Someone in Boise gave it to her.

Casey and I drove by her new apartment complex and the studio building she'll be working in, since we had plenty

of time after we arrived and checked into the hotel around four.

This was the first time I'd been back to Texas without my bride, and I can tell you I sorely missed Geri. She's so much a part

of that state to me even though Michigan is now our home. It just felt weird to be there and not have her along.

This is the sign in front of her building. She says the studios are very nice. The station is Mix 94.7

and she will be producing "Your Time with Kim Iverson." A nighttime show that's syndicated into several other cities across the U.S.

I have a sister that lives in Austin and my mom lives in San Antonio so on Monday I rented a car and

drove down to have lunch with her. It's only 70 miles between Austin and San Antonio.

Casey and I had dinner with my sister and her husband Monday night and I hopped on a plane

early Tuesday morning for the return trip.

AUS-->DEN was fine. Nice roomy airlplane.

DEN--> GRR a smaller regional jet but okay.

Except for THIS.

(NOTE: I removed the screaming baby audio. Just too irritating!)

Remove the flight attendents comments and you're hearing what I heard directly behind me for

TWO SOLID HOURS.

AAARRRRGGGGH!!!

Thank goodness I had my iPhone with some tunes. Whoo boy!

Stories of your own? We'd love to hear 'em! Just EMAIL us and we'd love to share yours.

GERI UPDATE:

Geri is scheduled for surgery on her left achilles on Election Day and yes, we voted absentee. She'll probably be in a

cast of some sort throughout the holidays. Good thing I make a mean turkey!

====================

10.20.08

VERY exciting news to report.

Casey has accepted a job in Austin, Texas as the producer of a syndicated show that airs weeknights.

I can't give you the details on the show or which station it airs on until it is cleared by her new company to be made public.

So... that means ANOTHER road trip for Casey and Dave (that's me!) from Boise to Austin this weekend.

Geri can't go because of this:

The story is WAAAAY to long to tell, but you should know it was Dave's fault (ME again!).

Geri's Achilles has a slight tear and so she's in the cast for six weeks. No surgery is indicated as of yet, but the

results from the MRI have not come back yet.

So to get back to the original story, I'll be flying out to Boise to drive with Casey to Austin this coming weekend.

At least we don't have to drive across Nebraska again. Whew!

Don't forget to email us with any thoughts! We miss you guys.

10.10.08

We've posted a new interview on our OnDemand page with Sheree (pronounced "Sha-Ray").

She's one of the women on the new season of "The Real Housewives" this year in Atlanta and on Bravo.

Holy cow! These women are UNREAL (if you'll pardon the turn of a phrase).

They're all about MONEY and how they spend TONS of it randomly and seemingly at will.

I can tell you she was very nice on during the interview but almost the opposite on the show. Even SHE was

stunned at the way she came across on the show. Check out the interview and them email us your thoughts.

10.1.08

Welcome October !

[REDACTED]

While we did enjoy the movie

"How To Lose Friends and Alienate People " with Ron VanTimmeren, it was here and one in two weeks.

So, we decided to remove the comments that we made here since nobody went to see the movie.

###

I picked up "Ironman" yesterday and it's KILLING me not to put it in the player. But I promised my bride I would wait

until the weekend and watch it with her. It was the BEST action movie of the summer, if you ask me.

No matter what you may think of Robert Downey, Jr. he is nothing if not a terrific actor. Even in this genre.

He looked healthy and in shape and it looks like he's got his life back together. I haven't seen "Tropic Thunder" yet,

but I understand he was hilarious in his role.

Okay... so "Ironman" was MY favorite, what about yours?

Discuss... and email!

We LOVED Big Brother 10 on CBS this summer. This one one of the most volitile seasons in the Big Brother House and

if you watched at all, you know that the Catholic school teacher from Dearborn and Michigan State grad Dan Gheesling was the

$500,000 winner. We'll have an interview on our On-Demand page in mp3 format for you to listen to online or

to download to take along with you. You can even click on his picture below to have the file open up in a new window

or to download by right clicking.

He may be the NICEST person to have ever competed on the show.

Email us your thoughts or ideas for more podcasts you'd like to hear.

Did you guys see this? It was the most watched debut of a new season of Saturday Night Live in years.

The opening skit was undoubtedly the best part of the show. If you missed it, here it is.

We remember. Vividly.

That morning, in the radio station when just before 9 am Geri and I were about to leave the air and make way for Mary Turner.

Ironically, our studios were in the Trade Center building on Louis Street on that morning.

Bruce Parrott came running into the studio and said "I don'tknow what's going on but some big building

in New York City is on fire."

We quickly turned up the audio on the TV and heard Peter Jennings trying to make sense of what was going on.

Everyone, including Jennings thinking this was some sort of horrible airplane accident. He said something about

reports of a "small airplane" colliding with one of the twin towers at the World Trade Center.

And then moments later... the second plane streaked toward the second tower and we all held our breath.

Mary had just given the station identification and started her song.

9:03 am.

We all knew what was going to happen. And we all knew what it was. A deliberate attack on the United States.

Terrorism.

And YOUR story begins here.

===================

9.10.08

Here's a scary story:

ATLANTA -
The family of a child whose foot was maimed in an escalator accident at the Atlanta airport is suing Crocs Inc., saying the Colorado-based footwear company failed to put safety features in the soft-soled shoes.

It's the second federal lawsuit filed this summer involving a child wearing Crocs injured on escalators at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The lawsuit filed Aug. 26 by Clark Meyer, who is the father of a 4-year-old boy identified as "A.M.," seeks $2 million in damages.
Attorney Stephen McConnell said the boy was riding an escalator at the airport July 15 when the machinery mangled his Crocs and "severely and permanently damaged" his right foot.
Crocs spokeswoman Tia Mattson declined to comment.
New York-based attorney Andrew Laskin, who is leading the case, also is handling the case of a 3-year-old girl from Louisville, Ky., injured when an escalator ripped skin from her foot and broke three toes in June.
Laskin is also suing Crocs over a child who was hurt at a Los Angeles mall. He has settled two other cases with the footwear company, but declined to comment on them.
"This is happening everywhere and Crocs is basically saying it's the fault of the escalators - or the parents are not watching their children," Laskin said. "But that would be the case only if it kept happening on the same escalator over and over again."
In April, Japanese and Filipino authorities asked the Niwot, Colo.-based company to consider changing the footwear's design because of similar escalator accidents in their countries.
The shoe company has promised to insert safety tags into its packaging by next year.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has documented 77 soft shoe entrapments on escalators since January 2006 and issued a warning in May.
In a 16-page letter to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in June, the company's engineering director Erik Olson said Crocs has knowledge of 186 accidents involving its shoes and has initiated "safety investigations."
But he added, "Crocs shoes neither present nor introduce a unique hazard pattern when worn by children or adults on escalators."
Mattson would not say how many times the company has been sued or settled lawsuits.
At least three children were injured in the last three months when Atlanta airport escalators gobbled up their flip flops or Crocs.
The airport began posting signs and airing public service announcements in August warning travelers of the dangers of "shoe entrapment" on escalators. Georgia Department of Labor workers examined the escalators and deemed them safe.

If you've never heard of it, it's kind of like Instant Messaging on steriods.

Just go to twitter.com and sign up for free. Then, search for djagger (that's me!) and click to follow my "tweets."

When you do, I promise to follow your's too if you like. You can block or add followers as you see fit.

My guess is that some people you already know are on Twitter and you can even get an application for most

"smartphones" like Treos's, Blackberry's or iPhones that are free as well. I have one on my iPhone and use it all day.

It really is a different kind of "social application" without having to build a whole page full of stuff like

you do on Facebook or MySpace. The thing I like about it is that you only have 140 characters TOTAL for each entry so you can't go

off on loooong tirades. And Twitter only asks one question. "What are you doing?" That can be a hard question to answer at times.

So come and join in on the fun and search for your friends and please follow my tweets.

But don't forget to email us too! :-)

9.2.08

We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Labor Day.

We had some friends who live across the street over yesterday for some BBQ and conversation. She's a school teacher

in the Sparta school district and told us she always gets nervous and can never sleep before the first day of school.

I can remember doing the same thing as a student, can't you? I thought it was wonderful that there are still so many teachers

like our friend who still get so excited about the new year ahead that they can't sleep because of the posibilities that await them in

molding the minds of our children. Truly commendable.

So as you and your family launch what we hope will be another successful year in your house, Geri and I wish you the best

for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year. And we hope ALL of your teams make it to the state finals!

As usual, you can always email us your comments and thoughts. We LOVE hearing from you.

###

If you scroll all the way down this page, you may notice this entry just about marks our one year anniversary.

It's very hard for us to believe it's been that long. Actually 14 months since we've been able to directly talk with each of you.

We sorely miss that and pray that one day it will happen again.

Thanks for hanging in there with us and let us hear from you!

=====================

8.30.08

Please have a SAFE Labor Day and only consume this stuff with your friends in your home or back yard.

Mmmmmm!!!

8.23.08

Geri and I were out of town last week and as we walked to our room at the end of the hall we happened upon this.

It and "they" stayed there the whole visit. After we laughed about it with the front desk staff on our last day in the hotel,

they "mysteriously" disappeared. But the perch chair remained.

Eww.

8.10.08

Sorry about the delay in getting a new posting but we've been quite busy the past month or so.

Geri and I went to Denver for our yearly radio conference known as "Morning Show Bootcamp." You may have heard

us speak of it before when we were on the air. It moves around the country from city to city every couple of years and this time

the Mile High City was SCORCHING hot while we were there. Whew! But we learned a lot and saw all of our radio friends

including Free Beer and Hot Wings from WGRD. They're great guys and we had some nice conversations with them during the long weekend.

We were also sorry to hear about Bill Bailey's position at W-Lite being eliminated. Bill was extremely instrumental in much of the success

Geri and I had during his twelve years there as program director and we wish him well. He's a good guy.

#

We thought we'd share some pictures from our trip to Denver with you.

Here's Geri and Casey as we were on our way to dinner with some friends Friday night.

This is Kristen just before she left Saturday afternoon. Her company is a big sponsor of "Bootcamp."

#

I got to fly to the annual Allegan Airport "Fly-In" they host every summer. It's a one day event but lots of folks fly in and out

all day long and the FAA even sets up a temporary tower for that day to handle all the air traffic. You can see all sorts of planes from war birds

to homebuilts to our flying club's Cessna 172 pictured here.

I flew in with Randy Heldt, another of our club's members to try and drum up a few new members for the club.

If you're a pilot looking to join a flying club or know someone who might be interested, then email me and let me know!

We'd love to have you join in the fun of flying our well maintained 172 and 182 Cessna's.

By the way, have you checked out the Dave and Geri On Demand page yet?

7.19.08

(Geri Entry)

Sorry I'm late.........the DISH NETWORK guy was crawling around on

the top of our house..........and the dogs were going crazy. It's all quiet now.....so let's get

to it.

Yesterday.........I left you with:

Kristen is at a BIG Hollywood event this week and met one of the guys she

says wrote and starred in one of her 5 favorite movies. We interviewed him while on-air at WLHT when he

called us from LAX on his cell. Can you guess who it is? Do you remember?

Some of you have GREAT MEMORIES.....it was Zac Braff, star of SCRUBS which is

moving to ABC this season.

Here's the deal. Many of you know Kristen (our youngest daughter) and know she would

NEVER invade someone's' privacy............she's quite a bit more reserved than either Dave

or I could ever be. Besides she was covering this event for her media group and wanted to remain professional.

So this is what happened. She sees Zac at lunch, says "Thank you for making a movie that changed

my life and is one of my all-time favorite movies."

Zac turns around and says "that's so nice......what's your name?" She said "Kristen"....they talked a

second. She was star struck and just happy that her favorite actor was as nice as she had hoped.

But then it goes on................later that afternoon, she walked in the ballroom at the BEVERLY

HILTON (yes the one that Merv Griffin used to own)............she grabbed a couple of Diet

Cokes and went out to her car. The ABC network had provided them with a looonnnngggg and

entertaining yet exhausting day.

As she's leaving, the entire cast of Scrubs is out by the parking ramp, finishing an interview,

and Zac yells out "Hey, Kristen!" He yells after her, she turns around and he walks

over. Zac looks at her credentials and asks about the company she works for! She filled him in

and said "we write comedy and entertainment news, stuff like who you're dating, etc."

Zac asks 'who am I dating right now?" Kristen said "I don't know, you haven't been on our

service in awhile........"

He then says he's not dating anyone. She doesn't know what to say......and so she tells him

that she's going to her favorite 'vinyl' (record store) in LA on Saturday. Zac says "no way, that's my

favorite store and I LOVE vinyl....and then went on to tell her that he never went to that

store on weekends......only weekdays because it was hectic." Kristen, still not quite 'getting it'

..........or maybe she did.......I don't know.......answered back with "well, I'm going on Saturday" to

which he said "well, I might go this Saturday too, maybe I'll see you there.

So for those of you that have asked about Casey and Kristen, you now have

KRISTENS BRUSH WITH FAME. Sure she saw and talked to a

bunch of television stars. I don't think her life will ever be the same since

she talked to Zac Braff.

Wasn't it just yesterday, that those girls were 3 and 5 and occupying one

square on DAVE & GERIS' HOLLYWOOD SQUARES? It seems like just

yesterday that she and Tommy were leaving for the prom.......and now, she's in

Los Angeles making her dreams come true???????? Whoa......those were the

fastest years of our lives.

Rowdy needs out. We'll talk later............you go and you do!

===================

7.17.08

(Geri Entry)

Whoa.......let me get my beverage of choice..which would be Dr. Pepper or a margarita. Since it's early

morning, you know which one I choose. OK Great! Rowdy's' in the chair next to me. We're set....here goes.

First of all.......missed you guys horribly.....and still do. Please don't think

I abandoned you.....I didn't. After our last job, just needed some time to

"sort things out". Dave was faithful and blogging all the time. GOOD FOR HIM.....

he is the salt of the earth. I'm lucky to have him and so are you all.

Today we're gonna talk about heart attacks. My heart sank when I heard WOOD TVs

Suzanne Geha, say that media talent Larry Figuerski had a massive

heart attack. Thank God he was in the hospital when he had it

after a minor one (which according to Geha, sent him to the hospital in

the first place). Geha went on that doctors said one artery was 100%

blocked. Many of you are probably saying...how was he even

walking?

[Jarvis note: If you even feel a LITTLE chest pain, get to

ER now. If they think you're having a heart attack,

you won't be waiting for hours in the ER....okay back to the reason for this].

In last nights storm, we lost power. Funny how you talk more to your spouse and

neighbors when that happens. I was talking about Larry, and I suddenly thought

"WOW!!!!!! HE'S BEATEN THE CURSE OF 'ON THE MICHIGAN ROAD'"

For those of you that don't remember, that was a show on "TV8", back in the day ...

OTMR started as a place to showcase, then personality and a

prickly and yet nice man.....Dick Evans. The show went on

for years, as a place for Dick to eat, and showcase Michigan, but mainly

a place for him to eat......he loved his food. Then sadly, he got the diagnosis of cancer

and eventually died, and.....Warren Reynolds took the helm.

Warren loved food, but also showcased other things, and then ate again. I

smile thinking about his love for everything at "The Schnitz". That's

The Schnitzelback Restaurant....sadly, now gone too. Well, we lost

Warren from Sports at "TV8" to "ON THE MICHIGAN ROAD". You know

what happened. He died as well of cancer.

I'm fuzzy on the time, it seems about 10 years ago, that WOOD TV

announced Larry would be leaving WZZM and would host 'OTMR'. I Immediately

yelled at the TV where only Dave could hear, "NO, HE'S TO YOUNG TO DIE...RUN LARRY RUN".

Of course again, being just a little cynical.....never did I think something like this would happen.

So to sum up in matters of importance from least to first.........

LARRY F BREAKS THE 'ON THE MICHIGAN ROAD CURSE' <smile>

of course the show is now DEAD along with LIVE AT 5

LARRY WAS SMART AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY

A MONTH ISN'T MUCH TIME OFF FOR A HUGE MEDICAL 'EVENT' LIKE THIS...TAKE MORE

DAVE AND I WISH YOU NOTHING BUT THE BEST! YOU'VE CHEATED DEATH....

CLEARLY GOD ISN'T THRU WITH YOU YET!

###

Kristen is at a BIG Hollywood event this week and met one of the guys she

says wrote and starred in one of her 5 favorite movies. We interviewed him while on-air at WLHT when he

called us from LAX on his cell. Can you guess who it is? Do you remember?

Check in tomorrow.

Comments?? Email us!

I went to Costco the other day and saw THIS in the parking lot. Why would someone DO this?

Anyone else seen this car around town? Email and let us know. Weird-O-Rama!

Geri and I went to a radio convention known as "The Conclave" in Minneapolis and

just got back early last evening. This is a weekend of learning conferences similar to the others

we always attend each year, but with an emphasis on management and programming tools.

It's a great weekend to meet and talk with some our industry's leaders and movers and shakers.

And they always have an interesting line up of keynote speakers.

So we learned a lot and came away with some fresh new ideas as radio faces a lot of challenges these days.

###

This is a picture of a giant tomato I took from our hotel room. It sits on top of a bar or restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.

We hoped it didn't have salmonella!

###

While we were gone for a few days, Christine from Spring Lake e-mailed us her Summer Adventure!

Hey Dave and Geri,

I just caught up on your last few months of blogs. Congrats on the garage sale. I'm 53 and have only had one in my life - so you guys are doing good! I do purge closets frequently and think about selling stuff but then get over-whelmed and haul it all to Good Will!

If this freaky weather ever turns the corner we'll spend it boating mostly on Spring Lake. Because of gas prices we will take less trips out the channel to Lake Michigan (or the "Big Lake" as some call it). So time will be anchored in Hanky Pank or Smith's Bayou tied up to other boating friends. Other than that a cousin's reunion up near Grayling that involves a bit of drinking and a river tubing trip ( you guessed it - it's not pretty!).

Here's to global warming!!
Christine

Hanky Pank!!!??? Sounds like fun... when do we drop anchor?

Thanks for sharing, Christine and we'd love to read about YOUR Summer Adventure.

Just e-mail us!

=====================

6.20.08

Summer officially arrives this evening at 7:59pm EDT.

The longest day of the year is here! Yaaaay!

We hope your summer season will be filled with lots of warm weather and fun for your family.

And cheaper gas (riiiight).

E-mail us with your adventures and tell us how you're enjoying YOUR summer.

We love hearing from you.

======================

6.18.08

This is nuts. 65 degrees for a HIGH in mid June? I just read on the internet here, that the

jet streams are moving closer to the poles. So, where the heck is that global warming we've heard about?

======================

6.13.08

Geri came downstairs to the basement a short while ago to tell me that NBC's Tim Russert had collapsed

from a heart attack and died while at work at NBC's Washington bureau.

Geri and I have been long time viewers of NBC's Sunday morning program "Meet the Press" which Tim Russert moderated.

During our time since leaving the radio airwaves, we have spent hours watching and commenting

on all the political debates and primaries. I had also read his two books and I can't think of a person

who was more deserving of his success than Tim Russert. We never met the man nor were we privileged

to have had an on air interview with him. But we certainly admired his work. And I don't think anyone can forget his

infamous white dry erase board during the 2000 Presidential election coverage with Tom Brokaw.

We just wanted to mention his passing to you. We know he will be sorely missed by his colleagues as well

as regular folks like you and Geri and me.

======================

6.1.08

The yard sale went well and we were so gratified to see a few former listeners that happened to stop in

when they were visiting the neighborhood for the block wide festivities. Thank you all for saying hi and remembering.

Susan Johnson, one of Geri's good friends and former Junior League president was out for a walk and stopped in to say hello too.

Brenna Rudd whom we worked with at our last radio station brought her new baby by and we had a chance to catch up.

And on top of it all, we sold a LOT of stuff. I can actually walk though the basement with zigging and zagging too much. What a relief.

Friday was Kristen's 24th birthday and we all realized it was the first birthday we all have not shared together as a family.

Anyone familiar with the HBO show Flight of the Conchords? Well, they had a concert in L.A. Friday night and we got a pair

of tickets for her to the show at the Orpheum Theater in Hollywood. She told us later she had a great day and the concert was awesome.

Casey's birthday is coming up in August and I guess we'll be absent from that one too since she's in Boise.

Now, where are those 80 degree days!? I mean, it IS June!

=====================

5.28.08

What? I haven't updated since the "Idol" finale? Shame on me. I apologize. Congrats to David Cook. We figured he would win.

Geri and I have been busy gathering odds and ends for the yard sale this weekend and we only hope the weather

stays decent and the chance of rain goes away. As of this writing (6pm) there's still a chance of rain on Saturday. Bleeeccch.

We've lived in this house for 18 years in June and we've only had TWO yard/garage sales the whole time. And now that

the girls have moved on and left us with stuff they don't want (and all my old computer and electronics I've collected through the years),

we figured we were WAAAAY over due. I think Casey and Kristen were in middle school when we had the last one.

We ran into and old sales friend from our W-Lite days while we were picking up our mondo-sized goods at Costco today.

He's retired now and it was nice to see he and his wife. They were there enjoying some lunchtime treats. It's funny when you

run into old friends at places you go almost all the time.

Anyway, we're almost ready for summer! How about YOU? Staying closer to home because of the gas prices too?

By the way, we have a bunny that darts in and out of the backyard shed so I went to Gander Mountain and picked up

a humane trap to try and catch him. I left it there for two days and when I didn't catch him, I removed it thinking he had moved on.

Guess who showed up the following day. So, I guess I'll try again. The problem is, the dogs go NUTS barking and carrying on as

soon as they see him through the windows. The bunny just sits there, chewing on my grass and then darts back under the door to the

shed as soon as I "release the hounds." If I can catch him, I'll release him around Reeds Lake or someplace nice.

Am I doing the right thing?

====================

5.21.08

Which David will win?

One of the (sorry to say) joys of being off this winter was not having to watch EVERY SECOND

of "American Idol." Geri and I were suffering from "Idol Burnout" after 6 years of dissecting every

second of every show. We actually enjoy it when they select the top twelve and head to Hollywood.

It's those painful auditions that drive me nuts. I know, I know... it's probably the reason most folks watch,

but it has become the same thing year after year. If they would show just the GOOD singers instead of all

the lame ones, I think a lot of us wouldn't mind so much. [Dave's opinion, not Geri's]

But Geri and I have been keeping up with the news from the show and have

been watching the past couple of weeks leading up to tonight's finale.

One thing's for sure... a David will win. I believe David Cook deserves the win and the

news reports say the producers want him to win because of the whole

"Archuleta Dad" thing. We'll find out tonight.

E-mail?

5.17.08

Man oh man it looks like the warmer weather is here to stay. And not a moment too soon since summer arrives

in a little over a month. (June 21st this year, I believe.)

Things are rocking along fairly well. And according to the E.N.T. doc the nose looks like its been healing for

a month already even though it's only been a little over two weeks. So that's a done deal. Yay.

We apologize for not getting a little audio up here for those of you who are interested, but

we have been surprisingly busy these past couple of weeks. Geri's been busy getting new stuff

for the house and backyard as well as preparing for a big block-wide yard sale that's coming up the end of the month.

Out with the old, in with the new, right? I think I'm finally going to have to part with some of my beloved

old computers, electronics and stuff in the basement. Very sad.

We've been going through the multitude of t-shirts we've collected through the years along with the

tons of CD's and movies and stuff. It should be a good sale. We haven't done a garage/yard sale in

quite some time. We're pretty sure Casey and Kristen were in middle school when we did.

So if you're out doing some bargain hunting and you happen to come up on us, be sure and say hi.

We'll have Buckley and Rowdy tied up outside to greet you too!

Thanks for continuing to think of us enough to e-mail, as so many of you do.

====================

5.4.08

Three days post-op and things are fine! I truly believe Dr. Hart, the ear nose and throat doctor that did the

procedure, may very well be the best in the world. Minor discomfort and swelling or bruising and best of all...

no nose packing! Yaaay!

Thanks for all the e-mails and inquiries into the possible podcast too. Geri and I hope to have something

to post sometime this week and if we can get in the groove, we'll keep 'em coming.

Stay tuned!

===================

4.24.08

Well, barring any more unforeseen delays the septoplasty is on for May 1st.

May Day!

So after the procedure Geri and I will be having our own streamers flowing from

the May Pole in the back yard and will be celebrating like we're in Latvia or someplace.

Ya'll come on over!

Seriously, we're considering doing a little podcast for anyone who might be interested and you could

listen to it right here on the blog page or download it for your favorite mp3 device.

Thoughts?

E-mail us if you'd like us to do something like that and thanks!

====================

4.18.08

The "procedure" has been delayed until further notice.

Please check this space for further details soon.

===================

4.13.08

Look at this!

This is not my nose, per se but the one on the left is supposed to be very similar to the one I have.

See, I broke my nose back in high school and after all these years the E.N.T. doctor

(who is Australian and very nice, by the way) will be performing a well rehearsed symphony on my snout

known to many as a SEPTOPLASTY. My nose should look similar to the one on the right when they're done.

Geri has sworn that she is going to get a picture of me post surgery up here,

but since I'm the one who does that, you will probably never see it. Actually it should relieve a lot of the snoring problem

Geri says I have and since I was put though a sleep study years ago and have no evidence of sleep apnea (thank goodness)

I have decided to do this. If it helps my breathing and my bride sleep better at night, then I say "full steam ahead" or something.

The "crackin" will be this Friday the 18th.

Wish me luck and feel free to share YOUR stories to make me feel better.

3.31.08

Back from the West Coast and what a trip it was!

It was great to see Casey and Kristen and the weather was very nice in BOTH places.

While Grand Rapids was getting another heavy dose of snow and icky weather, we enjoyed temperatures

in the 50's in Boise and 60's in Los Angeles. Casey took us to visit one of the local ski slopes called "Bogus Basin."

It was a beautiful drive up the mountain to see where she has been snow boarding this winter.

We also had a nice Easter Sunday brunch with Casey and Dan Tooker and his wife's family.

The Grand Canyon was truly spectacular and we now know why it's one of the Eight Wonders of the World.

Here we are with the canyon barely visible in the background.

Pretty, huh? Geri was upset because she wore white and when we got back in the car, there were a lot

of gnats all over her. One of them stayed with us all the way to Vegas the next day!

Some nice British folks (who took the picture above) told us we should visit Sedona, Arizona and just

RAVED about how nice it was. So on Wednesday, we said what the heck and drove down to check it out.

It turned out to be one of the BEST parts of the road trip. The Red Rocks State Park is here

(as well as John McCain's home) and lots of little tourist-e shops and things to see. Geri just couldn't snap enough pictures.

This one does not do the area justice. It truly is a beautiful place to see.

Then it was on to California complete with a visit to In-N-Out Burger and a trip to Disneyland/California Adventure for me and Kristen

for a few hours Friday afternoon. Geri stayed at the hotel and rested up from the road trip down.

It's great to be back home, though and nice to see almost all but the biggest mounds of snow gone. Yaaaay for Spring!

Thanks for checking in and your continued e-mails. We miss you guys too.

========================

3.16.08

Ohhhh yeaaaah.

Isn't it great when 40+ degrees feels WARM?

The last time I checked we'd had 98.5 inches of snow this season. And although we didn't hit that "magical" [who sez!]

100 inch mark, I say good. And good riddance too!

I went up flying with a couple of my fellow pilots in our flying club as one of them flew some instrument approaches the other day.

With out getting too technical, it's the method used to insure the airplane gets lined up properly with the runway when

the plane is in the clouds or reduced visibility. Just know that whenever YOU fly on a commercial airliner, they're always

on instruments no matter what the weather. Anyway, it's a lot of work to set up an airplane, even a single engine one, for

this kind of flying. It was still fun! Any kind of flying is fun for a guy like me. Now, if I could just convince Geri I

need to get my instrument rating... ["Gee, Geri! It will only cost about seven thousand dollars!"] That ain' t gonna happen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone. "Erin Go Braugh!"

=======================

3.4.08

Whew! As of this writing we've had 96 point something inches of snow. I'm happy to report "Mount Jagger" has

diminished somewhat and the doggies are happy to have their paws on concrete and not icy yuck.

But we've all made it through what is traditionally the coldest and snowiest month of the year. Congratulate yourselves.

Geri and I are planning a trip out west to see Casey and Kristen later this month. We're going to fly into Boise, Idaho

to see Casey first and then take a couple of days and drive down to Los Angeles to see Kristen. At least we don't have

to drive east to west through Nebraska. Geri wants to see the Grand Canyon, but that's a bit of a jog to the west from where we'll be.

Okay... stopping now.

I sound like a freakin' TRAVEL LOG your least favorite aunt or uncle forces on you.

Regardless, Spring is nigh! Yaaaaay!!!!

========================

2.20.08

Witness: "Mount Jagger"

This is my patio after I shoveled a "track" for the dogs to run around and relieve themselves on.

You can see Rowdy in the upper left part of the picture at the foot of the beige shed...

and of course, Buckley. Kristen's dog.

I say "ENOUGH SNOW ALREADY!!!"

=====================

2.4.08

Looks like Geri was right! Way to go Giants. I'm glad Michael Strahan finally got

his Superbowl ring. "Baby Quarterback" Eli Manning had a heck of a 4th quarter too.

I enjoyed the FedEx ad with the HUGE carrier pigeons and

the American Idol promo with Ben Rothlesberger of the Steelers

was fun too. How about you?

======================

2.3.08

Geri likes the Giants. I think the Pats will win. We'll see.

The plasma TV is warmed up and ready for a LOOONG day of usage.

======================

1.30.08

Today is Geri's birthday and isn't it nice we have blizzard-like conditions outside? We both woke up at

different times last night and could have sworn we heard that "freight train" sound associated with

very high winds (and sometimes tornados!) The good thing is, with all those high winds we had, all the snow

has blown off our front yard and into the neighbors yard to the east of us. Gotta suck for them, though.

Geri likes to keep her B'day celebrations low key so we'll be staying in the house today and tonight.

Besides... isn't American Idol on tonight?

:-)

======================

1.22.08

Is it just me... or have things REALLY slowed down because it's so stinking COLD.

Brrrrrr!!!!!

We're still here so e-mail us. :-)

======================

12.31.07

Geri and I hope you and your family had a nice Christmas and we hope you had lots

of friends and family around you to help spread the warmth of the holiday season. We had both

Casey and Kristen here, of course and also had a chance to visit with Ron Van Timmeren, his wife Chris

and John and Anne Zimmerman for some holiday cheer at Ron's new home in Hudsonville.

A good time was had by all and it was great to see our friends.

Casey and I made the trip to Boise, Idaho the day after Christmas arriving Thursday

afternoon in Boise just in time for rush hour. I can tell you the Rocky Mountains and associated

ranges along the way are absolutely BEAUTIFUL covered in snow. We were very lucky that we missed

any and all weather events that could have made our trip difficult and only had a bit of weather

as we left Cheyenne, Wyoming on our way to Boise Thursday morning. I can also report that

western Nebraska is STILL boring to drive through. Sorry if you're from there, but that's my opinion.

Casey's moving van arrived Saturday morning at her new apartment so she feels much better with her own

stuff around her now. She's very excited about her new job and Dan Tooker, her new morning show host

assured us he will "watch after our girl." That's good to know.

Kristen will head back to Los Angeles the Saturday after New Years to continue her career as a writer.

A couple of listeners said hi to me in the Minneapolis airport on my trip back home Saturday which is

always so gratifying and nice. It always makes us feel a bit melancholy when folks tell us they

miss us on the radio and ask if we'll be back anytime soon. Thanks for remembering!

Geri and I hope you and your family and loved ones have a GREAT 2008 and thank you

AGAIN for all of your e-mail.

Stay well!

=======================

12.14.07

Wow! Has it been a couple of weeks since I've updated? Well, there are a few things to report.

It looks like I (Dave) am going to be making another drive out west again. This time a little closer to the

Pacific northwest. Casey is going to work with a radio friend of ours on a new morning show

in Boise Idaho! She'll be a part of "The Dan Tooker Morning Show" and will co-host and produce.

The show will go on the air in January and Casey and I will be driving out

the day after Christmas and I'll return on Saturday. She's very excited and it all came together nicely

and fairly quickly for her. The folks at Gemini Publications here in town were very understanding

and told her they are sorry to be losing her.

Also, Kristen will be arriving for the holidays on the 21st and has a nice amount of time off to spend at home

before she heads back to La-La-Land after the New Year. It's really going to be an "empty nest" around here

in 2008. Despite all the changes in radio around here lately, we can say our situation has not changed and

doesn't look to change locally. Again, thank you for all the great e-mail!

Merry Christmas to you and yours! (In case we don't update before then.)

=======================

11.30.07

We took Kristen to the airport this morning to catch her flight back to L.A.

She'll be back for Christmas in three weeks to the day.

Have you been out to G.R. Ford Inter-Galatic Airport lately? The construction on the new

multi-level parking ramp has started so the parking is kind of crazy. Although I have to admit that we

really like where they moved the short term lot. It's at the end of the terminal and right next to it so you

just have short stroll to get inside. And you pay before you leave the terminal which makes your exit

that much faster. I'm going to have to mention how convenient that is to Phil Johnson, one of the airport

managers who is in my flying club. Keep all of this in mind if you have to pick up or drop off anyone during the holidays.

Thanks for checking in and all of your very nice e-mail.

========================

11.20.07

MAJOR thanks to Colleen Pierson (again!) and the Grand Rapids Press for a really nice story on 11.18.07.

We hope that answers some of your questions too. We are still amazed at the number of e-mails that come in everyday and

are so thankful, especially at this time of the year, to have such wonderful friends.

Thank you AGAIN... and may you and your families have a joyous Thanksgiving gathering.

Go Lions! (riiiight...)

========================

11.9.07

Things are a bit slow right now.

I remember the holiday episode of "Fraggle Rock" Casey and Kristen used to love to watch.

The "Rock," (where the Fraggles lived, by the way) would "slow down" every year when it turned cold.

That's the way it feels around here. Geri was watching a lot of Dr. Phil and Oprah and now is very excited

that O.J. is back in court so she can watch that nonsense. I actually sat down the past couple of days

and watched the EXTENDED versions of all the "Lord of the Rings" movies again. Back to back. Each one is over

4 HOURS long. That's how exciting it's been around here. In between refereeing Buckley and Rowdy's tussles and

watching movies, I've been able to consume an enormous amount of Mountain Dew Game Fuel and waaaay too much popcorn.

Life is good. :-)

========================

11.5.07

Oops! I guess I was right. U of M was victorious but it sure was a good game right to the end.

John Zimmerman does a lot of jumping up and down when he watches an MSU game. He and Anne

are quite the fans. It was a fun afternoon and evening. We wish you all could have been here.

(Except you would have had to bring your own beer.)

========================

11.3.07

Well well well... we'll see. Dave's guess? U of M takes this one in Lansing today. Now, that's not going to make our guests happy.

John Zimmerman and his wife Anne will be coming by to watch the game this afternoon and John is a HUGE MSU fan.

Cut the boy and he bleeds green for sure. Game time is 3:30 so grab your popcorn and favorite bubbly beverage 'cause this should be a good one.

Go Green! Go White! Go Blue! Just.... GO!

========================

10.30.07

Time for a quick update!

We keep catching ourselves saying "Oh, we have to talk about that in the morn... " only to realize we don't have any microphones!

There certainly has been a lot of stuff locally to talk about too. We miss being there and talking with you about all these things.

Casey is doing fine with her new job at Gemini Publications and Kristen continues with her writing career in L.A.

Rowdy and Kristen's dog Buckley are great pals and Buckley shows great restraint with the little guy chewing on his ears when they run

around the house barking and playing. Geez, someday's it's like having little ones around again!

Write when you can, if you feel so inclined. We love hearing from you.

=======================

10.16.07

Kristen arrived from L.A. this past Friday night to attend an old neighborhood friend's wedding Saturday night.

The whole family went and it was very nice. We all decided wedding receptions are like going

on a cruise and having dinner. Most of the time you're at a table with people you barely know

or are just acquaintances that you always have things in common to talk about.

Casey starts a new job today!

She'll be working with the fine folks at Gemini publications who bring you Grand Rapids Magazine, among others.Yaaay Casey!

I've never been more proud of Kristen since she's been home.

She made it through HALO 3 in about 7 hours total. I had to wipe away a tear, I must admit.

Props to our friend and journalist Colleen Pierson of the Grand Rapids Press and communications teacher extraordinary

at Rockford High School. She dropped our names in Monday's GR Press (10.15.07). You rock Colleen!

Thank you for your continuing e-mails. We miss talking with you more and more with each day that goes by.

In the meantime, we wait for our next adventure.

=======================

10.2.07

HALO 3 rocks, by the way. Don't let the "fanboys" tell you any different. Geri hasn't seen me in 7 days. I live in the basement with my Xbox 360 and Mountain Dew. If you'd like to be my friend on Xbox Live, my gamertag is DaJag. (Clever, huh?) I just wish Geri would play but she HATES video games. I pointed to the helmet that came with the "Legendary Version" of Halo 3 and asked her who it was. She said "Uhhh... the Death Master?" "Noooo!!!!" I yelled. "It's the MASTER CHIEF!!" (Sigh!) Oh well...

=======================

9.24.07

I hope your high school football team is having a great season so far. Nothing better in the Dave & Geri house than fall and football.

How about those LIONS! Who would have guessed that they'd start out so strong. Okay... the Eagles game was weird... but still.

Geri took a bit of a back slide the past couple of weeks, but we're keeping a close eye on her so she can continue to get stronger.

Casey has a few job prospects and Kristen seems to have settled in nicely out with the beautiful people in L.A.

HALO 3 arrives tomorrow, the 25th. Now you know what I'll be doing for the next few days. :-)

Rowdy is fine and loves playing with his cousin Buckley. We're keeping Buckley for Kristen until

she can afford an apartment that takes dogs. L.A. is EXPENSIVE baby!

A lot of you are asking if we will be on the air again here in West Michigan. We'd love nothing more.

We just don't know if an opportunity will present itself, so

we'll just have to wait and see.

Thanks for continuing to write. We miss you guys so much.

Wow! What a trip to L.A.!

Kristen and I (Dave) drove from Grand Rapids to Denver in 19 hours.

We didn't stop for much except gas and some food for the road. That was Friday, Labor Day Weekend.

Saturday we drove what had to be one of the most EXHIlARATING highways in America.

Colorado to Las Vegas on I-70 to I-15 is truly America the Beautiful. There are no words to describe the magnificent

vistas and views you see on that road. We both looked at the pictures we snapped along the way and they just don't do it justice.

If you ever get a chance to take this trip DO IT. The least exciting part of the whole trip had to be western Nebraska.

Not much there. But we DID see a young black bear about 100 feet off the road just as we entered Utah! Coooool!

Sunday we made our way into L.A. from Vegas (no, we didn't do anything in Vegas except sleep) and unloaded the U-Haul on

Sunday, one of the hottest days in Los Angeles in the past five years. Whew! It was then time for a nice meal and some rest.

I flew back Tuesday and sat two rows in front of Ty Pennington from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." I shook his hand and

mentioned how Geri and I had interviewed him years ago when we sent some listeners to meet him at an

event in Traverse City years ago. He was very nice and said he recognized my voice and I told him that was

impossible since it had only been ten minutes or so out of his life but that it was nice of him to say so. He also said

he remembered the event in Traverse City and it was nice to meet me.

Kristen swears we saw Terri Pollo who was Ben Stiller's wife in "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers"

when we were shopping in Target Monday, but we never confirmed this celeb sighting.

Gee... I had no idea this was going to turn into a BLOG! :-)

In the meantime, we're still waiting for our next adventure and miss talking with you every morning VERY much.

We love you guys!
